Hello class. My name is Donald and I'm originally from north of Boston. Now, retired for 22 years, I live in Englewood, Florida, presently famous for its destruction by hurricane Ian. Recovery will take a long time. My central goal in entering the Associates in IT program is to exercise my brain and understand my computer better.
Having just read and listened to the Module One Introduction to this course, I think I would like to learn more about how to advocate for the acceptance of cultural diversity as a means of increasing harmony among those that need it. This is a rather long-term goal but might help. I have neither career goals nor professional aspirations at this point in my life. My career was as a scientist, engineer, and enforcer of environmental regulations for the Massachusetts DEP in the area of air pollution, and later as an antiques dealer. In other words, I have spent little time learning about the humanities or what it/they are. But in retirement, I have time to think about myriad things, and humanities sounds like a good subject for flexing my brain.
